About EDC: MV

‘Esprit de corps’ is a French term loosely translated to mean morale or team spirit. The objective is to rally troops to a common goal in the face of adversity and hardship.

Esprit de Corps: Milestones for Victory (EDC: MV) is an incorporated nonprofit (charity status pending) dedicated to empowering individuals to achieve their aspirations by embracing and learning from pivotal mistakes. Our philosophy embodies the spirit of “if I can do it, so can you,” fostering resilience and determination.

Our blog features a diverse array of articles that delve into personal growth, financial literacy, academic guidance, and more, all aimed at inspiring and educating our readers.

We will be hosting workshops and events designed to equip participants with practical skills and insights, fostering a supportive community where experiences and knowledge are shared.

We provide opportunities for individuals to become mentors or volunteers, enabling them to contribute to others’ journeys while enriching their own.

Meet Our Team

Our Board

Meet Victoria, B.Sc., MBA: Founder, Visionary, and Animal Advocate
“Welcome to EDC: MV! I am Victoria, the heart and soul behind this initiative. As a graduate of Memorial University with a degree in Biology and a current candidate for a Masters in Business and Operations, my life has been one of dedication, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to animal advocacy and conservation.

My journey was not easy. From navigating a challenging home and neighbourhood, moving through foster care, to self-funding my education while working full-time since the age of 16, I’ve faced adversities that have molded my perspective and determination. These experiences have deeply ingrained in me the values of hard work, perseverance, and the importance of lifting others.

With over ten years of leadership, I’ve honed my skills in managing operations, nurturing teams, and driving results. Recently, I’ve transitioned into the nonprofit world, aligning my career with my passion for human and animal welfare. My goal? To use my expertise and experiences to drive positive change.

EDC: MV is more than a platform; it’s a convergence of my life’s work and aspirations. It’s a space where I share the lessons learned from my mistakes, hoping to guide others towards a path of success and fulfillment. Every story, every piece of advice, stems from a genuine desire to uplift and educate.”

Meet Rebecca, B.Sc.: Sailor, Artist, and Atmospheric Science and Nature Enthusiast.

“Hello! I’m the Founder’s Second Mate, if you will. I’ve had the honour of accompanying Victoria on this metaphorical voyage of her aspirations and it’s my pleasure to continue assisting in its navigation. It’s on this ship that we embody Esprit de Corps within our communities through our passion to give others a chance to surpass their own struggles to break the cycle of poverty.

Carving new grooves to break away from the generational paths set out for us is very difficult. On top of that are layers of systemic issues working against people already pre-disposed to hardships that can thrust them into poverty. That’s why we are here.

This project is close to my heart as someone who had to leave behind an abusive family and struggle to succeed in school. Joining the military and being surrounded by my found family enabled me to gain traction; through many stumbles and pitfalls I’ve been able to create a framework in my life that supports me and now I’m able to help others through working here at EDC: Milestones for Victory. We all have it in us to become the best version of ourselves.”

Meet Cynthia, B.Sc., M.Sc.: Kind, curious, and resourceful.

“My name is Cynthia, and I seek to support, build, and maintain EDC: MV in its goals as a community member.

Learning and helping others are my core values. I pursued a degree in Biology to learn about the complexity of nature and the struggles around its conservation. Thereafter, I completed the Marine Studies Masters (aquaculture) at the Marine Institute of Newfoundland. This education has given me a well rounded view on the multiplex ties between environmental sustainability and worldwide food production. I sought an education that would allow me to enact positive changes.

I am a firm believer that we can shape our own communities and therefore have to be a positive force within them. Building and maintaining connections are an important part of one’s personal life and career. Having the right people, resources, and tools will make a world of difference in achieving your dreams. That is what EDC: MV has been created for; helping you make and achieve your goals. I am honoured to be apart of the Board and I am always here to help.”

Meet Xan, Diploma Graphic Design and Animation: Creative, designer, and Anime loving office clerk

“Salutations, star chasers and natural born nurturers! If you’ve come to this part of the website then you’ve must have already realized you’re amongst your people… and if not please allow me the chance to convince you that you are. Those who join EDC: Milestones for Victory understand that there is work in the nonprofit sector that needs to be done. For some it’s taking matters into their own hands and getting above the poverty line and for others it’s to help provide an opportunity for their community to become stronger.

I’ve always been the type to need inspiration to be better and to go further. I offer the team my years of experience in graphic design, web development, and a deep understanding of administration. I joined this team to be that beacon of inspiration for others who are in the place that I once was. A dark place and not feeling like anyone cares and like you have nowhere to go. I’m here to make sure that EDC: MV gives others that creative space to learn new ways to overcome poverty.

So if this sounds like you and you’re willing to go beyond and push past your limits- then let’s go plus ultra!”
